Timeless Elegance : Karen

It took me quite a while before I managed to coin up the title for this series of my work. Why the title you ask? Well, that’s what came to my mind when I think of wedding gown, historical buildings... and of course, beautiful woman. See the relation? Anyway, this series as mentioned in my earlier post, are the shots of Karen. She’s the very first model I shot on the first day of the photoshoot. Needless to say, she’s my favourite. Just see the number of good shots I had ;)

Indeed, Penang's heritage buildings provide a great backdrop for wedding photos. This has been another good learning and kudos to the models for their sheer professionalism.

The Bridal Shoot - Roxanne & Danielle

So here it is, the outcome from last week's bridal model shoot. Sharing first, the shots of Roxanne and Danielle. Roxanne - I was so attracted by her jovialness - it somehow made the photographer more at ease and I ended having quite a number of good shots of her! While I have the least shots of Danielle, I actually like her for her demure look... Check them out below.

A Tribute

Before I share the rest of the photos from the weekend's photoshoot, allow me to wish my grandma a happy 78th birthday today! May you be blessed with good health for many more years to come! Here are some potrait shots of her at the dinner on Saturday...

A good practice for me shooting indoor without a flash. Shooting in this condition with a 50mm always gives me the problem when it comes to image sharpness. Can anyone tell me what would the best setting be?

Today has been yet another great photoshoot session - day 2 of the bridal gown photoshoot. I have hundreds of photos for post-processing so I may need a little more time before I can share them. Meantime, here's another personal favourite.

Sneak Preview: Historical Wedding Gown Photography

What am I up to this weekend? I took part in my first ever photography competition! Titled Historical Wedding Gown Photography, it is a bridal gown model shoot with a touch of nostalgia done at some of Penang's historic sites. Day 1 of the shoot, which is today was done at Fort Cornwallis and Little India while Day 2 will be at the iconic HSBC building and the Chew Jetty. I'm all excited for tomorrow! Looking forward to improve from today's result.

Perspective

Perspective is defined as a way of looking at or thinking about something. This is obviously an important element in photography. How good a photograher and his work is, depends largely on his ability to see and frame his shot beyond the ordinary.

Rather than shooting your subject the way it is normally seen, experiment with different angles. Frame your subject the unconventional way by tilting your camera beyond the usual 90deg and play with the depth-of-field. You'll be surprised at the results.

I took these shots as I was heading to the carpark after work one day. Now who says a mundane object can't be an interesting subject of photography?

A Walk Along The Heritage Trail

Presenting... my second potrait photography work! In these shots is Siew Wun, whom I've known together with Janice for many years now. A few weeks back, she was asking if I could help do shots of her with her new "bob cut" hairdo. I agreed and requested that she came out with the suggestion for the theme & location. It's not surprising why she chose to be photographed at the Armenian Street. It's the charm of the historical street which stands some of Penang oldest heritage buildings. Clearly there's a sense of belonging in her with the area, which made the session so much at ease, yielding great results.
